Walking Routes
Walking Routes:
Introduction
Over the years paths and tracks were made for transporting goods, pilgrimage, farmers access etc. these paths at one time used to cover the island as a spiders web, most have now been forgotten or disappeared altogether, we have spent the last ten years re-discovering some of these old paths, and they lead to some of the most beautiful parts of the island.
As tourism has settled around the coastal regions, you will find that within the centre of the island, walking routes have hardly been touched, our walks take you into beautiful areas you can only access on the old donkey paths by foot, you will find that wild herbs, olive trees and forest of great old cedar trees have taken over, the paths meander through the trees and bring you to hidden meadows full of colourful flowers in the spring time.
Rhodes offers a wide choice of walking areas and grades, we have 14 walks set two for each day of the week one hard walk and one easy walk, also there are alternative routes, these alternative routes could be used if one of the specified routes could not be done on your chosen day, example would be high winds Monday: Attavirous Mountain would not be walked and an alternative route would be done, not all routes are described on the route pages, also we will be changing the set daily walking routes from year to year, so you will never know where you can walk and what you will see!
