Souma, Grapes, Embonas and Attaviros
In 2008 when walking up Attaviros I happened to take a picture part way up the mountain of the village Embonas below, unbeknown to me within this picture is the the start of a building structure for housing a Souma distillery, shop and taverna.
Walking down from Attaviros this October they were open for business, it was a delight to meet them, a family run Souma distillery, anybody that vists can be given a guided tour of how it all works, you can see the Souma actually being produced from late August until the end of October.
You can have a tasting session of various flavored Soumas from ordinary to the following flavors, lemon, plum, basil, pomergranite, mint, manderin, orange, cherry and a few others.
As with all our walks we try and finish in a taverna, this is the Attaviros and Embonas stop to quench our thirst and mob our brow.
